Our favorite bedtime books

Happy Weekend Yall!!!  I wanted to check in real quick and thought a book post would be fun.
Here are a few of Caleb's favorite bedtime books (I feel like I have done a similar post....so sorry if this is redundant!).

Good Night Gorilla is his all time #1 favorite:

Coming in at a close second is:
Marvin K. Mooney by Dr. Seuss (who doesn't love Dr. Seuss????)

Here is one of my favorites for us.  I think the stories are slightly too long for a 20 month old, but I am hoping that this will be one of Caleb's favorites in the future.  This book is a GREAT way to introduce kids to the Bible in a fun, story book way.  I happened to grab my copy at a consignment sale for $1, but they sell them everywhere...I even saw it at Walmart recently.
The Beginners Bible is the name and there are two versions floating around.  This is the one that I grew up reading and the one that I found at the consignment sale:
Here is the newer version that you will more than likely find new, in stores:

We also love to visit the library.  It is a good place to test a book out before you buy it.  Just because Caleb likes these books doesn't mean every child will.  I own books that are the most popular in America....Goodnight Moon for example......and Caleb could care less about that book right now.  The library is full of great childrens books and most library's even have story time for kids.  Our library here is amazing.  They have several story times designed around different age levels.  They even do music and puppets and Caleb loves it.  If your library doesn't offer story time, Barnes and Noble has a storytime (usually on Saturday and Thursday mornings).  I will have to say that these are targeted toward older kids with a larger attention span, but they normally hand out samples of frappucinos and do a craft afterwards.  Plus, Caleb and I usually end up staying for the first half of the story and then heading over to the train table to play....so if your kiddo does get bored with the story, there's a back up plan :-)
What are your kids favorite books?

A little halloween...etsy style

My brother loves Harry Potter and I love this sign!

This is pretty creepy but I think it would be a great ring to wear on halloween day.

And nothing says halloween better than some nice, gooey brains.

Last but not least, I can't forget a girls worst nightmare.........................spiders!!!
I would totally wear this on halloween.

and I can't forget the little ones

Train on the brain

Maybe it's my fault for taking him to Barnes and Nobles to play with the trains a little too often, but Caleb is obsessed with Thomas the train.  Granted, he likes trains as a whole, but he can spot Thomas from a mile away. For Christmas or his birthday in February, we were thinking of getting him the Thomas train table.  Unfortunately, they are the most expensive kind to get.  I wouldn't mind getting him an off-brand train table but I am wondering if those tracks are compatible with Thomas and friends trains?  He has a little mini wooden train set but Thomas doesn't fit right on the tracks.  I also would LOVE for the tracks to already be permanently attached to the table.  Does anyone have any advice for me?  Should I get the Thomas brand or the off brand?  I have also been looking on Craigslist but I haven't found anything that fits my criteria...not to mention that I am still trying to figure out where we are going to put this table...haha.
I hope you all have a fantabulous weekend.  We have some cleaning and organizing in store for us.  But tomorrow our neighbors are coming over for dinner and I am so excited to play hostess for the evening.  I am going to make baked pasta, salad and bread with whoopie pies for dessert!  I will post the baked pasta recipe next week because it is gooood and super easy.
See ya Monday!

Desk Makeover

One of my favorite things to do...makeover something, anything.  This time I chose my desk that has been sitting in the garage for the last 10 months.

BEFORE:                                                                                                               AFTER:
I started with recovering the blahhh fabric on the seat cu
shion with a lively blue fabric.  Took me about 10 minutes total.  I didn't have a staple gun so I used duck tape.

The American Tradition- Trip to the Punkin' Patch

We, like almost every other American family, made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch.  Which really wasn't a patch at all but it was the closest thing to it without having to hike to timbuktu for a pumpkin, that quite honestly I could have bought at Walmart for $3.74...but that's besides the point.  The whole point is to take Caleb and let him have some fun.  It was quite crowded and we tried to make the most of the morning...and we actually did end up having lots of fun, even though Caleb was determined to do his own thing the whole time (gotta love his new love of independence!)
We got some good pictures and bought Caleb his own, Caleb-size pumpkin.  He had a blast trampsing around the "patch" pointing at pumpkins and picking up all the mini pumpkins.  I hope to find an actual "patch" next year.  I want to pull that bad boy off the vine and take him home to be carved...or painted...or to just sit at the front door and welcome our trick or treaters.

Here are a few pictures of our pumpkin patch experience:

Somebody wasn't ready to leave...wonder who it was...
Although he started whistlin' a different tune when we pulled into the Steak n' Shake a few minutes after this picture was taken :)  We are as American as they come: Pumpkin Patch followed up with lunch at the Steak n' Shake!

CHEAP Fall Beauty Fav's

1. Amazing fall eye makeup
...Cover Girl's "Shimmering Sands".  I've been wearing this three part eyeshadow since highschool and I still love it!  Perfect for any skin tone and it's only $4.
2. New York Color liquid lipshine in Au Naturel....LOVE this stuff! Best part? It's only $1.74 so you can re-apply as often as you want.

3. New York Color Bronzer in "Sunny" Under $4.  Makeup Alley website gave this a review of 4.1 out of 5 stars...pretty good for the price you pay!  You may think of using bronzer in the summertime, but it's also great in the fall when you start losing your summer glow.  You can fake it with a few swipes of this bronzer.  I use a large blush brush to apply.

4. OPI "Over the Taupe" nail polish.  This polish is the fall chameleon.  When I wear brown it turns brown, when I wear purple it looks purple and when I wear black/grey's it turns grey!  I love it.  You can buy it online for about $5 or $8ish in stores.
