Maternity Photoshoot

I recently received an email from a sweet girl asking if I had any suggestions for her upcoming maternity photoshoot.

Putting together outfits is one of my favorite things to do, so I really enjoyed creating these looks.  I found my inspiration on my maternity Pinterest board that I had made while I was expecting.

Here are some of my favorites:

1. All Black.  Very classy and flattering.  I especially love the black floppy hat that completes this jaw dropping look.  Paired with gold bangles, simple earrings, and some cute flats.

2.  Coral Maxi Skirt paired with a simple white t shirt and turquoise jewelry and shoes.
I love coral + turquoise!

3. Maxi Dresses
You can never go wrong with a great Maxi (and these are all super affordable!).  You'll look like a dream and feel like you're in your pajamas...isn't that what every girl wants???

It's Friday!!!

Hello my faithful blog friends!

Can I just tell you how excited I am that it's FRIDAY?!?!

Tomorrow is my birthday...I am also very excited about that.  Especially since Caleb said he was going to make me something.
I can't wait to see what it is! Handmade gifts are

I also have some pretty big news......

Thursday, I became an independent consultant for Rodan + Fields Dermatologists!!!
The creators of Proactiv who have branched out into the world of anti-aging.
I am also very excited about THAT! Can you feel all this excitement in the air?!?!

In my opinion, it's never too early or too late to take care of your skin.
I am using the anti-age regimen in hopes of keeping my skin looking 26 for many years to come and so far, I'm an addict.  I also can't wait to start using the eye cream that came in the mail today!

Here's my helper...he is 46 years old and has been using Rodan and Fields for 2 months...look at these results!!! Hahaha

And here are some REAL results!

lip renewing serum

I promise not to bombard this blog with all Rodan + Fields posts.
I actually have a blog completely devoted to that: for those of you who are interested.

I still have an etsy shop and I will still be crafting and diy'ing and all that great nothing is different except that I will just have better skin ;-)

So in honor of my business launch AND my birthday, I am inviting you to be on my team!
OR become a preferred customer (which means you get 10% off of every order AND free shipping)!

To make that offer even spicier, I will pay the $19.99 enrollment fee the first preferred customer AND send you a chalkboard in the color of your choice from my etsy shop!

For the first consultant that signs up, I will send you a free chalkboard AND a mustache and lips mug set!
That's about $100 of free, fancy stuff :)

Here's a short video from the top selling consultant, worth your time if you're interest is even half way peaked:

You can email me for more details:
And visit my website for all kinds of information:
Or take a second and like my facebook page to stay up to date on new products and special offers and giveaways.

Thanks for being nice to me and letting me share my excitement with you, even if you ended up rolling your eyes ;-)

And by the way, did you notice my new and improved blog layout?!

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC weekend!!!
Stay cool!
And wear sunscreen!!!
I feel like I have an obligation to say that now that I'm in the anti-aging line of work ;-)

I am being brave and opening my shop back up!
I've added some cute, fun and bright chalkboards.
I love the size of these.
Not too big and not too little.

Perfect for photo props, weddings, kitchens, kids rooms, classrooms, car trips, toddlers, adults, everyone!

I just love all these chalkboards that are everywhere.

Personally, I have about 4 in my home that I use.
I may have a slight obsession, but they are

Here are some other gorgeous chalkboards.

Being in the Army has allowed us to travel around and live in many places.
Our very first journey, as short as it was, landed us in Columbus, Georgia (Fort Benning).  We then moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky and from there we moved back to Fort Benning living right over
the Georgia line in Phenix City, Al.  Now we are stationed at Fort Rucker in L.A.- lower Alabama.  We still have more places left to live but of all the pretty places we have been, no place is as wonderful or as beautiful as the state of Virginia.

The culture, history, mountains, people.
Everything about it is breathtaking.
It's a place you just fall in love with, and I don't care what anyone here in the deep south says, Virginia is a southern state.
Our accents might not be quite as thick and our winter's might have a few snowfalls, but our tea is sweet and our hospitality is genuine...we are as southern as southern can be.

Let me just tell you a few of my favorite things about Virginia.

I grew up on a 147 acre tree farm in Concord, Virginia.
A teeny town nestled in between Lynchburg and Appomattox.

I spent my summers roaming the creek's, riding four wheelers, swimming in the pond, and visiting the old farm house in the back field that housed the original owners of the land, back in the 1800's.

My family built a house on a hill, right in the middle of two huge fields.
I slept with my window's open in the Spring and was awakened many mornings, way too early, by the whippoorwill (that I honestly wanted to find and kill by the time Spring was over!) that lived in one of the trees near our home.
In fact, on our visit last month, I heard that whippoorwill again, except he was probably the great grandson of the whippoorwill I knew so well, and my thoughts raced back to all those chilly, Spring mornings growing up.

The falls were perfect.
I've never appreciated a Virginia fall until I lived in the deep south.
As anyone living south of the South Carolina border knows, there is no fall in the deep south.
It simply goes from the unbearable heat of summer to a super mild winter, lacking of snow.
Since our house was heated by the wood stove behind our house,  I remember going out in the woods with my dad and my sister and loading the back of the pickup truck with firewood.
I also remember putting on boots and warm sweaters and heading up to football games.

In the winter, we spent hours sledding down the huge hill behind our house.
You knew you had a good sled track going when someone ended up in the creek all the way at the bottom of the hill.
One winter it snowed so much that we started having sledding parties.
Our friends would come over and my mom would make hot chocolate while we went sledding in the dark.
We even hooked our sleds to the four wheeler and my dad would drag us through the fields.

I went to college at Liberty University.
A great school nestled right beside the Blue Ridge Mountains and James River.
I loved going to school at LU.
I remember Seth and I getting away by driving up the Blue Ridge Parkway after class.

There is truly nothing as beautiful as the Blue Ridge Parkway in the middle of fall.
Virginia has leaves of every color in the fall.  It truly is breath taking.

I love that in Virginia, you are surrounded by history, of all kinds.
Colonial Williamsburg, where you can get a true glimpse into what our ancestors lives were like.

 Thomas Jefferson's home-Monticello.

The gardens at Monticello

Jamestown- the first settlement of the Virginia Colony.

Appomattox- where Lee surrendered to Grant, ending the Civil war.

Natural Bridge- one of the seven wonders of the world, and so many more!

For me, it's where I grew up, where my family lives.
It's where I made so many memories and made so many friends that I still keep in touch with.  It's where I fell in love with Seth, where I married him, and where I hope to be again one day.

My heart is in Virginia and always will be.
There's no other place like it!

I haven't done an OOTD (outfit of the day) post in a while!

Dressing myself is still a huge struggle most days.
I still have 25 pounds to lose in order to fit into my pre-preg clothes so I am trying to make do with a few of the maternity items that still fit and some of the stretchy, loose pieces from my wardrobe.

This outfit is a combination of both maternity and regular sizes.
The bright yellow top was given to me by my friend April (thank you!!!).
It's Liz Lange maternity but I never had a chance to wear it when I was expecting so I'm glad to get use of it now!
The skinny jeans are thrifted.
They have an elastic waist so I can wear them through any stage my body happens to be in.
Shoes are from my hubby..given to me for mother's day...he has fab taste.
They are mustard yellow with a multi colored straw heel.

You can't tell it so much in the picture above, but I found some awesome, coral pink lipstick in my cabinet that I forgot I had.
I'm so glad I found it because it's the perfect summer color!
Lorelei had her shots yesterday so I had lots of down time, holding her in my big chair.
Hence this picture:

Whenever I get home from being out and about, the very first thing I do is change into comfy clothes and put my hair up.
Which is exactly what I did yesterday, but I left my lipstick on :)
It was just too fun to wipe off!

Here are a couple other OOTD's from the last week:
Maxi skirt from a consignment shop and a teal Target brand tank (I LOVE these tanks..I think I have one in almost every color!!!)

Navy and Mustard yellow.
Old Navy maternity skirt, yellow Target tank, gifted peacock earrings and my yellow shoes from the hub!

Today, however, I will definitely not be doing any OOTD pictures.
I am under the weather...stupid cold.
But I am trying not to let it get the best of me.
Lot's of liquids and down time.
Hopefully all of you will be wearing some cute outfits for me.
Happy Wednesday everyone!!!
