Blue

I am putting our baby book together. It is more difficult than one might think. All the names of relatives, the pictures you are supposed to put in there. I just hope after I have him I can go back in and fill out all the stuff that I can't now. If I knew his name, that would help too, but I need to see him first before we make our decision. He has to look like what we call him, ya know? I am finishing up one of the pieces of furniture today and I am so excited to take the painters tape off and see our work of art! The question is, will is turn out as a piece of art or a piece of yuck? I also need to wash all the baby clothes. . . in dreft? Or can I use regular? If I use dreft can I use a snuggle fabric sheet? Do you even wash the brand new ones too??? Help! I also want to get one of those banners to put across the door that says, "IT'S A BOY!" and I want to get blue bubble gum cigars, haha. I can't wait until 5 more weeks when I can call everyone and say, "Had a baby its a boy!" really quick and then hang up. Oh I am a dork. (You will only get that joke if you remember the collect commercial from a couple years back.)

You are too cute! And I get your joke! As far as the laundry questions....I always washed everything, even the new stuff. I didn't always use dreft, but I used ALL free and clear. Just make sure whatever you use doesn't have dyes or fragrances; newborns skin can be pretty sensitive. I am sure your furniture will turn out terrific! I will be waiting for that call!

Don't bother with Dreft. There's honestly nothing that special about it. I agree with just going with something that's a "free and clear" formula, or, I just use all natural ones for the baby stuff (and the cloth diapers, which I don't think you're doing!)

Oh, and yes, I always wash the new stuff. They'll be softer once you wash off any remaining factory residue! ick!
And I remember that commercial, too!

I use Baby Purex...it's really cheap at the commissary. I washed everything. Oh, and I am kind of anal about smells and wanted my baby to smell good, so I did use Downy April Fresh fabric softener and dryer sheets, even though you're not supposed to, and Ty's skin was fine. He didn't have any kind of reaction to it. Guess it just depends on your preference and how sensitive Baby Wade's skin will be!

I agree with Kelly, there really isn't anything special with Dreft. I used it for our first and had got it for our second, but with our third I had just used Cheer and Downy free and clear for everything. To me, Dreft was just an added expense/headache. I also am about to switch to cloth diapers for my new one and the lady recommended Charlie's Soap which is a natural one and you can use it in HE washers. She owns the Supermom's Superstore in E-town. I'll warn you like she did me, wash a couple loads of old towels at first because it will get the buildup from the other products off of your washer. Same with the first few washings of your clothes, it will get the residue out of them. I'll let you know how I like it.

there are SOOO many things you have to put in there. Some are kinda weird questions. I didn't even think to look at her baby book till after she was born. just make sure you fill it in as you go, I didn't and now I can't remember somethings :O( also, if it has a place for his footprints or handprints, get them when they are sleeping!!! haha, it's SOOO hard to do. I didn't even do it in the book I did it on a piece of paper then put the piece of paper in the book, lol. I've been using dreft since she's born. and i just the snuggle for the dryer. I was EVERYTHING, the new, the old/used. I washed the newborn-6 months before she was born. I've learned now that she didn't wear HALF the clothes she had, i wish i didn't take the tags off everything, so i could've returned them or safe and give to someone else.
I wish we had something put on our doors when C was born, didn't have anything :O( maybe with the next. hehe.

You are adorable Kathly! I am so excited! You always have a way of making me smile. Have you heard of that service that makes all the calls for you! You just register with it and you leave a message with all the details and then it calls all your friends. Pretty cool.
I better get a real call though!
