The Time Has Come, The Time is NOW!

Time to move...from here:

(the day we closed on our first house)

To There:

Not sure how long I will be without internet...hopefully not too long! Although I don't think they are coming to hook up our TV and internet until the 18th...so this could be a long week but I think we'll manage :-)

Look at all of these great people we are going to miss!

And Caleb's little buddies

Our girls night out Monday night...couldn't think of a better way to end our time here!

Do I have beautiful friends or what???
Then they had to go and give me this mug and make me cry...Dr. Seuss will get ya every time!

God has been so good to us here.  I know that as one door closes, another door is opening and there are other friends to meet but we will never forget all the wonderful people we have met here!  No one can ever replace them.
 We are so blessed.

If I wasn't already tall enough...

and if I didn't have back issues already and if I didn't have to constantly haul a two year old around and if I lived in a city where current fashion was essential and if my husband wasn't the same height as me...I would wear shoes like this everyday of my life:

Ahhh...now these are more like it

Sunday Showcase

I just love her designs.  They are eclectic and edgy but still wearable.
What a very talented seamstress!

Father Forgets

I cried when I read this and of course I read it right after I fussed at Caleb for trying to "drink" his milk with his fork at the supper table.  Then I read this and we sat in the floor where I had folded clothes earlier and threw the socks at each other from across the room...I'm pretty positive we started a new game around here that will take place every time socks are folded called, "Sock Throw!" :-)
Just a great reminder to all of us parents...I'm putting a copy on my fridge when we move.

Father Forgets

by W. Livingston Larned

Listen, son; I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little paw crumpled under your cheek and the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my paper in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me. Guiltily I came to your bedside.
There are things I was thinking, son: I had been cross to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because you gave your face merely a dab with a twoel. I took you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily when you threw some of your things on the floor.
At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table. You spread butter too thick on your bread. And as you started off to play and I made for my train, you turned and waved a hand and called, "Goodbye, Daddy!" and I frowned, and said in reply, "Hold your shoulders back!"
Then it began all over again in the late afternoon. As I came Up the road, I spied you, down on your knees, playing marbles. There were holes in your stockings. I humiliated you before you boyfriends by marching you ahead of me to the house. Stockings were expensive - and if you had to buy them you would be more careful! Imagine that, son, form a father!
Do you remember, later, when I was reading in the library, how you came in timidly, with a sort of hurt look in your eyes? When I glanced up over my paper, impatient at the interruption, you hesitated at the door. "What is it you want?" I snapped.
You said nothing, but ran across in one tempestuous plunge, and threw your arms around my neck and kissed me, and your small arms tightened with an affection that God had set blooming in your heart and which even neglect could not wither. And then you were gone, pattering up the stairs.
Well, son, it was shortly afterwards that my paper slipped from my hands and a terrible sickening fear came over me. What has habit been doing to me? The habit of finding fault, of reprimanding - this was my reward to your for being a boy. It was not that I did not love you; it was that I expected too muchof youth. I was measuring you by the yardstick of my own years.
And there was so much that was good and fine and true in yourcharacter. The little heart of you was as big as the dawn itself overthe wide hills. This was shown by your spontaneous impulse to rush in and kiss me good night. Nothing else matters tonight, son. I have come to your bedside in the darkness, and I have knelt there, ashamed!
It is a feeble atonement; I know you would not understand these things if I told them to you during your waking hours. But tomorrow I will be a real daddy! I will chum with you, and suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you alugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come. I will keep saying as if it were a ritual: "He is nothing buy a boy - a little boy!"
I am afraid I have visualized you as a man. Yet as I see you now, son, crumpled and weary in your cot, I see that you are still a baby. Yesterday you were in your mother's arms, your head on her shoulder. I have asked too much, too much.

Last night Caleb also took a bath in a bucket...It was his idea and I like to call it the "Hillbilly Hot Tub" ;-)
Happy Friday!  Have some fun with your kiddos!

I pledge allegiance to the flag

235 years ago today, we declared our independence from Great Britain and have been fighting ever since then to keep it that way.  Aren't you glad we live in a FREE country?  We sure are and we have been celebrating our independence all weekend long!

I saw this cute flag idea on a blog this week...I wish I could remember which one!
I knew I had to try it out and I'm so glad we did.
Caleb truly thought it was the best craft ever!
He loved the fact that he was painting with his feet and hands.

In this household if you're 5 and under, pants are optional ;-)

Thumbs up!

We wish you all a happy and safe July 4th filled with fireworks and sparklers!!!

Oh! I Love America

Have you joined Pinterest yet?
Oh my wow...it's addictive.
I picked out some of my favorite 4th of July things...here's a little screen shot of my "I Love America" board:

This morning, Caleb and I made an "I Love America" wreath...finally!
We got creative and used things we already had at the house...fabric, felt, ribbon and straight pins.
I can even take the flag off and use it for the rest of summer...although there's nothing wrong with being patriotic all year round, so I may just proudly leave that flag right where it is.

What are your July 4th plans?
We are having a cookout with friends that we haven't seen in a long time.  We get to meet their sweet baby for the first time.  Then we are going to find us some fireworks to watch!  I plan on eating lots of grilled foods and American flag cookie cake :-)
