Feta Fabulous

I made a little trip to my local Publix- I have just discovered how great Publix is!  We have Kroger where I come from and although Kroger is nice, Publix is way better.  I have been trying to eat healthier by adding more veggies and fruits to my diet.  I made myself an amazing feta salad and a cranberry apricot fruit salad.  I picked up a new tea too.  It is called "Rx Stress" and it is a caffeine free black tea with ginseng and chamomile among a few other things.  It was pretty good, and I gotta say that I am very relaxed :)
Then I picked Caleb up some organic baby food.  I don't think he was loving it, but he tasted it!  He was more interested in his banana and chocolate chip cookie for dessert :)  Honestly, I am still having a really hard time getting Caleb to eat.  At his one year check up the doctor told me that he wasn't even on the charts as far as his weight goes.  He started out in the 75% and has slowly ended up off of the chart because he is so small.  He  has great motor skill control and is very alert and smart but he is just more interested in nursing than he is eating real food, but he is burning more calories than he is consuming.  I have cut back on nursing, but it doesn't seem to make him any hungrier for real food.  I have been told the next step is to cut him off from nursing completely, but I really don't want to do that to my little man.  I just wish he would eat food along with nursing.  Have any of you gone through this with your children?  The only things Caleb will eat are Gerber arrowroot cookies, freeze dried fruit, goldfish, chocolate cheerios, sometimes spaghetti, sometimes mashed veggies with ketchup and anything chocolate.  Any suggestions???

I am sort of the same boat, my son Nico is 3 1/2 years old and food is a constant battle in my house, as he is so picky. I spoke to my doctor about it as he is off the charts being only 30 pounds, but almost 3 and 1/2 feet tall. Her advice was, don't let meal time be a battle and she has never met a child who would starve themselves, it's just a phase and soon enough they both will eat. It's easy for me to say that, but I know how hard it can be. Good Luck and I am sure he will eat soon enough :)

Hi! I found your blog a long time ago on Babycenter in the Feb. birth club. I just wanted to tell you that my little girl went through this phase too. And that's all it was, a phase. She had a little problem with dropping weight too, but we just kept offering her solids and eventually she took off. You could try putting butter and Parmesan on the pasta. My girl LOVES that! Good luck with the weight gaining for him!shen

I love cranberry sauce, but I have never eaten it outside the Thanksgiving holiday. I am going to pick up the stuff tomorrow to make it like you described here, it sounds yummy!!!

Try actual food that you would eat. My daughter ate baby food for about a month before she refused. We did grilled cheese and pb&j because it's easy to chew...also sweet potato with the cinamon and a little butter was a huge hit. She would pretty much eat anything that had some flavor to it.
