As thankful as I am that Caleb is eating, I would really like for him to eat something other than cheese pizza, grilled cheese, cheesy brown rice...you get the picture.
We went for his 15 month check up today and he gained 2 pounds in the last 2 months, which is completely wonderful since he hadn't previously gained ANY weight since his 9 month check up.
For lunch i decided to trick him a little. I made him a smoothie using frozen yogurt, milk, strawberries, peaches and...spinach!
The other flavors completely overwhelmed the spinach taste and he drank it! I wouldn't say he liked it quite as much as a milkshake, but he liked it enough to drink most of it. I am so excited that I tricked my snookums into getting a little dose of vitamins that he really needs. Do any of you have any other "trick" recipes to share? I have heard of that cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" that is supposed to have all kinds of recipes that trick kids into getting their veggies. I may just have to go check it out.
For dinner he ate a big tray full of macaroni and cheese with ketchup (yuck!) and finished it off with a big helping of fresh strawberries...at least I can get this kid to eat one good thing willingly :)
yummy
macaroni face

What a great idea! I have heard of that milk shake before. Cute pictures, he is a cutie! :)
What a cutie pie!! Great idea with the shake!
I haven't tried anything like that myself, but one of my teacher friends from back home used to use her food processer to shred up all kinds of veggies, and she would put them in her son's pancakes! I thought that was a great idea! Will have to try the smoothie and pancakes with Ty!
Don't wipe his face.......let me kiss it clean!!!!!!So Sweet!!!!!
Clever mommy! Jake pretty much lives off Calebs chosen diet of cheese and pasta, bread and nachos. His mom said he has been that way his whole life. he will only eat a handful of fruits and veggies to this day! too bad I couldn't trick him into drinking your concoction.
Since my 3 year old, Nico is so picky his doctor suggested that since he loves pasta, shred carrots, zucchini, squash etc and "hide" them in the sauce. Since your son is so young, you might get away with it in mac n cheese too. My little guy seems to find everything...but I keep trying :)
He is so cute! I love the spinach shake trick, I will have to remember that for future. Tonight my little man (7 months) is having pureed chicken for the first time, I've mixed it with a little apple, that he loves, and will gradually delete the apple and fingers crossed he likes chicken.
The Sneaky Chef is a good one. I was never able to use it though because the foods it hides the not so yummy stuff in my girls wouldn't eat. Spaghetti sauce, pizza, and the foods they hide in these different recipes are foods they loved, blueberries, spinac, carrots...
