Vinegar

I love vinegar- plain white vinegar is my favorite.  I like to use oil, vinegar, salt and pepper on my salads and it is so yummy.  But did you know that there are so many other ways to use vinegar?  I came across a conditioner recipe using vinegar and I am really excited to try it:
16 oz of water
4 tablespoons of white distilled vinegar
3-4 pieces of fresh rosemary or sage
Using an old shampoo bottle, funnel these ingredients in, give a little shake and apparently it is supposed to give you soft, shiny hair. Plus it is super cheap and easy and worth a try, right?

You can also use vinegar to get rid of fruit flies by setting a bowl filled with white distilled vinegar out on your counter.

Use as a cleaner using 50% water mixed with 50% vinegar.  Cheap and works great!

I love to paint, but sometimes I don't clean my brushes out good and they dry hard.  I usually end up having to throw them out but now I will try this trick: Simmer hardened paintbrushes in boiling vinegar and then wash in hot, soapy water.

Cold vinegar is supposed to relieve sunburn. I have also heard that cold milk compresses and tea bags work great for sunburns as well.  I will be remembering these tricks this summer.  My white, freckly skin is always prone to a good sunburn or two!

There are a zillion other ways to use vinegar.  All you have to do is google "uses for vinegar" and the results will astound you.  Do any of  you already use vinegar as an interesting substitute?

My mom used to mix it with soap and water to clean her kitchen floors! I'm going to have to remember the sunburn thing because, like you, my hubby has pale freckly skin and here in TX? That's a recipe for all kinds of burns! ;)I wanna know how the conditioner turns out though... I wonder if the rosemary is for sent, so if you could use lavender or something else...

Interesting...I've never heard of any of these! I would've thought of vinegar as more of a clarifier than a conditioner. I'll definitely have to look into these. :)

We live have hard water and a good splash of white vinegar in the dishwasher helps with the water spots.

Hey lady! Miss you in GA! I actually found something I printed offline today in regards "organic"household cleansers one being for Vinegar : Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with 1 tablespoon of bi-carb (not sure what that is though) to UNBLOCK A DRAIN!
I have a bowl of vinegar on the counter now to try and get rid of these pesky little bugs in the house! Ew!
